Iron and steel imports in March increased 66.2%

(Construction) - Iron and steel imports into Vietnam continue to rise. According to the statistics of the General Department of Customs, in March alone, the amount of imported iron and steel increased 66.2% over the previous month.

For steel and iron products of all kinds: It is estimated that in March 2019, it imports 1.45 million tons, up 67.8% and the value is USD 920 million, up 66.2% over the previous month. The amount of iron and steel imports in 3 months / 2019 is estimated at 3.47 million tons, up 11.4% and the value is 2.28 billion USD, up by 4.1% over the same period last year.

Exports in March 2019 are estimated at 450 thousand tons, down 1.9% from the previous month and the value is 300 million USD, up 3.1%. Export of iron and steel in 3 months / 2019 is estimated at 1.68 million tons with a value of 1.07 billion USD, up 17.8% in volume and 3.6% in value compared to 3 months / 2018. From the beginning of the year to March 15, the total value of Vietnam's imports and exports has reached more than 116 billion USD, estimated to increase 6.8% over the same period last year.

Import and export turnover in March of the whole country increased by 54.7% compared to February.
Notably, many key product groups increased by tens of percent compared to the previous month such as: phones of all kinds and components, textiles, computers, electronic products and components, wood and wood products, means of transport and spare parts.
